Invasive Matters

Designer & Researcher: Ashlí Marino Watson

Materials: Bio-material

Methods: Bio-material innovation and experimental fabrication

Invasive Matters is a research initiative that transforms invasive plant biomass into non-toxic, bio-based building materials. By converting Japanese Knotweed into high-performance construction units, the project explores circular manufacturing strategies that reduce waste, lower reliance on carbon-intensive materials, and connect material innovation with ecological restoration.

Scope
Research and development of non-toxic, bio-based building units through material experimentation, prototyping, and bio-composite fabrication.
